In 2019, school resource officer Shelly Yoshida met Brhayan Bermudez after Brhayan was caught at school selling a marijuana vape. Because Brhayan was 18, and drugs were involved, it meant expulsion from school. At Brhayan’s expulsion hearing, something about him caught Officer Yoshida’s attention.
