COMMUNITY POLICING

The Hawthorne Police Department is proud to host Evansville, Indiana, Police Chief Billy Bolin for a presentation on their nationally recognized Community Policing programs and concepts. A portion of this class was presented at the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) this year.

Learn how your passion to help can make a difference in your community. Chief Bolin will discuss the different community policing programs his department has introduced and how he incorporated a community policing culture into the department. However, it didn’t happen overnight and it wasn’t easy. Chief Bolin will share some of his insights on building trust and creating positive contacts with the youth in the community he serves. Don’t miss this great opportunity to learn from someone outside of CA!

About the Presenter:

Chief of Police Billy Bolin has served on the Evansville Police Department since 1998. He has been assigned to various positions in the department during his career, including Patrol, Juvenile Detective Office, Crime Prevention Officer, and Patrol Sergeant.  Special invitation – Join Us for a Coffee with a Cop Day Announcement

Coffee with a Cop Community,

We are constantly amazed to see so many Police Departments across the country stay committed in getting out to your respective communities with CwC (in person and virtual) events. It is truly inspiring to see so many of you working hard in "staying the course" with community policing programs. Thank you for your dedication and commitment.

We are reaching out to share a very special invitation. Our mission continues to grow, and while many in-person events have been postponed, we invite you to join us in a virtual celebration of National Coffee with a Cop Day on October 6th at 1 p.m. ET. Our partners at CARFAX for Police are hosting, and we’ll share how we’re evolving to help everyone build better community policing practices.

Also as part of the celebration, CARFAX for Police and Coffee with a Cop will be announcing some news about how our partnership is growing, which will enable us to expand our trainings and reach more officers at a time when building stronger community relationships is essential.

While much of the world has gone virtual, law enforcement remains on the front lines. The teams at Coffee with a Cop and CARFAX for Police are here to support you every step of the way. We hope you’ll take 20 minutes to pull up your Zoom, grab a cup of coffee, and join us on October 6th!

Stay safe,
Mike Ishii, Chief of Police, Hawthorne, CA
Chris Cognac, Sergeant (retired), Hawthorne, CA
