Fundamentally, it’s a challenging occupation and it is essential not to be misled into thinking otherwise. You will be confronting sorrow, distress, violence and even death on a regular basis. To be part of this life, one must possess the qualities that will allow you to make this a fulfilling career; bravery, integrity, tenacity, self-motivation, and a solid conviction that you can handle the demanding tasks of contemporary law enforcement. We challenge each and every one of our officers to come up with novel ideas and approaches to better serve our community, and then we make them happen! People just like YOU came up with the ideas for some of our greatest innovative programs such as Coffee with a Cop, Ride to Live, Tactical First Aid, Job Interview Workshop and 'Scottie” the Facility Dog. We firmly believe that the job is tough enough without us making it tougher on each other. Here we are a family. We may be “Old School” in the sense that we believe in serving and protecting our community, but we remain on the cutting edge of police work. With nearly 100 officers and 60 support staff serving an ever-growing community of over 95,000, the department prides itself on maintaining its technical edge. We are the only department in the South Bay with its own Helicopter and Fixed Wing aircraft, Tactical Medicine Program, Armored Rescue Vehicle, and state of the art Police Facility. In addition, in the very near future we will be launching our own Real Time Crime Center as well as our Drone as First Responder program.
