COFFEE WITH A COP TRAINING WORKSHOP

overview

The Coffee with a Cop Community Policing Workshop is a class that is provided, free of charge, to any police department on how best to prepare and implement Coffee with a Cop at your Department and share different community policing program ideas to build value for your agency.

Attendees will learn current best practices, do’s and don’ts, communication issues, Officer “buy-in,” and how Coffee with a Cop can kick-start community policing philosophies in your department. Real-world examples will be presented on successes and failures (we’ve seen a few) of Coffee with a Cop events from around the country. Our Instructors have given this class across the country. We will cover unique perspectives on Branding for your organization, social media perspectives, and the challenges of getting agency buy-in on Community Policing programs.

We have tailored the workshops to fit various time schedules from one-hour sessions to five-hour workshops. This class was originally created with the DOJ COPS office’s approval and funding for a grant that gave us an opportunity to present the workshop across the country. When the Grant funding ended, the Hawthorne Police Department continued to support the program. The Coffee with a Cop program is now part of a non-profit organization that continues to support the brand and program. Funding comes from sponsors and local police departments willing to host the event. CARFAX for Police has helped with funding for the past two years.
